Nurse Assistant Training Program (NATP)
This course covers basic nursing skills, medical terminology, basic anatomy and physiology. Completion allows students to sit for the California State Nurse Assistant Certification exam. The course is taught by a licensed nurse. Theory classes are held on Zoom, labs and additional meetings are held at Del Norte High School, and clinicals meet at a North County Skilled Nursing Facility. Students must have computers with internet, audio, and video capabilities. Class meets 12 hours per week: every Friday from 4:00-8:00pm on Zoom and every Saturday from 7:30am-4:00pm for 17 weeks. Students spend 60 hours learning theory and 100 hours learning clinical skills at a skilled nursing facility. Additional hours are for lab, test preparation, CPR class, and (24) make-up hours.Program Costs
- Registration: $1100 includes:
- Electronic Textbook and Workbook
- Clinical site placement subscription (Complio, 1 year subscription)
- Fingerprinting and Background check
- A $50 voucher for Ceil Blue scrubs
- Additional Fees: $200+ to include but not limited to:
- Medical Examination, vaccinations, TB tests and screenings
- CPR/BLS (discount code available to Poway Adult School students)
- Clean, closed toe athletic shoes
- State Certification Exam $120 required in the second to last month of the program
- Payment Plan: Register with $275 down, 3 additional payments of $275 Call the Poway Adult School office to register with payment plan (858) 668-4024

- Attendance, Participation, and Completion Requirements
- To complete the program and qualify to take the State certification exam, students must complete 60 theory hours, 100 clinical hours and pass all modules at 75% or better (as measured on Module Exams and Skills Assessments) Therefore:
- Full attendance is mandatory for the course
- The first 20 hours of the program are critical to your ability to attend clinical days
- Students who miss any hours during these first 2 weeks may not be able to attend clinical rotations as scheduled
- One make-up theory and three make-up clinical are offered as a courtesy near the end of the course for students who missed class due to illness or emergencies
- Students who are absent more that the makeup hours allow will be marked "Incomplete" for the course
- They may be offered the option to return next semester to complete hours and missed modules
- Them may be required to pay the registration fees again
- Students must make-up all missed modules/hours
- Please note the class schedule when registering and ensure your prompt and regular attendance to the correct location for the class session
- Teachers will mark students as not in attendance during Zoom class time if
- Students are not visible during Zoom class time
- If students do not answer when called upon

- Attend one (1) of the free information sessions on Zoom
- Download and print the Student Requirement Checklist
- Once registration opens for the new semester create your account at www.powayadultschool.com and register for the class. Note if you are doing a payment plan you will need to register through the office (858) 668-4024
- IMPORTANT! Do not email forms. Save copies of your forms for your records. Bring hard copies of all your documents and forms to the first day of on-campus class. You will need a phone and credit card to upload forms to the California Department of Public Health website and create an account with American Databank. This is required for clinical rotations at Palomar Health.
If you need to drop the course after the start date, you may be responsible for the costs of fingerprinting and textbooks. Additional drop fees may apply based on when a drop occurs.
- Students who drop the course prior to the first class date shall receive a full refund.
- Students who drop the course within 4 scheduled class sessions shall receive a 75% refund.
- Students who choose to drop the course after 4 scheduled class sessions shall forfeit all fees.
The School is your training provider. Other agencies have roles in the completion of your receiving your State certification. Please be aware of those agencies and their contact information!
